Prof. Ahti-Veikko PIETARINEN has been Invited as a speaker in the Hong Kong International Computer Conference 2023 on 28 September 2023. His presentation topic is "When AI Needs a Human".
The Hong Kong International Computer Conference is an annual flagship event organised by the Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS) since 1978 and is one of the best and most popular ICT conferences in Hong Kong. It brings together ICT professionals and experts, government leaders and business executives from local and abroad to share and discuss the latest trends of ICT innovations and developments in enhancing business opportunities and productivity. The theme of the conference this year is "AI for Economic Development and Social Good".
Prof. PIETARINEN is professor at the Department of Religion and Philosophy, Hong Kong Baptist University, and member of its Transdisciplinary Theoretical and Ethical Artificial Intelligence Lab and the Centre for Applied Ethics. Pietarinen’s research on the human and artificial minds and their complexities has been published in a hundred Web of Science journal articles. His work addressess emerging human and machine reasoning competences, capabilities, and defects; diverse and creative aspects of cognition; and the theory, history, philosophy, and ethics of AI.
