Abstract:
One of the most influential Catholic thinkers of 20th century, Thomas Merton's spiritual journey will be presented as a sojourn, a yearning for home and journeying at the borderland. Sophia Park poses Merton as a dance partner, critiquing, appreciating, and pondering his spiritual life in terms of interculturality, social-justice orientation, and a deeply intimate journey. In this dance, Sophia suggests a way to lift up one's voice as a postcolonial feminist woman.
