Introduction of the project: | Our goal at this stage is to collect as many renderings of the Lunyu as possible in languages that are either represent minority people in China or foreign languages outside of China. So far there are versions in 30 languages and over 125 volumes collected. Subsequently we will develop specific research projects related to these texts, sometimes focusing on a single rendering, other times comparing different renderings from different periods (some in the same language, but also across linguistic and historical boundaries). We are intending to apply for major funding from European research funding institutions, so that the major interpretive work can begin next year. |
