The two volumes of Theology and Technology co-edited by Dr. Levi Checketts from HKBU’s Department of Religion and Philosophy along with Carl Mitcham and Jim Grote, combine classical essays on Christian theology with fresh commentary and contextualization for the present. An expanded and re-printed version of Grote and Mitcham’s 1984 volume of the same title, the essays in these volumes provide an array of approaches and perspectives spanning foundational theological approaches to technology, the relationship of humans with technology as depicted in the Bible, and how different historical theological movements have responded to the promises and problems of new technologies. In addition, retrospective commentary from Prof. Mitcham, and synopsis and amendment from Dr. Checketts, help situate the nascent field of theological studies of technology for both new students to the field and those looking to expand their own research.
