Students are required to complete two non-credit bearing Physical Education Subjects as a complementary studies requirement.

3.1.5 University Life Subjects (non-credit bearing)

This subject equips students with essential skills for university learning. The aims and objectives of this subject are:

a. to establish and consolidate a teaching and learning relationship through informal small group interactions between lecturers
and students;

b. to introduce the principles of mind-stretching learning and thinking to students from a broad and yet stimulating perspective; and

c. to promote a community spirit and the University's ethos.

The subject consists of three elements:

a. academic skills workshops, including library skills, computer induction skills, educational development skills and life skills;

b. mentoring sessions; and

c. University forums.

3.2 CS Distribution Requirements:

Students are required to select Distribution subjects from any of the four broad categories of knowledge, and these four categories are:

a. Humanities;

b. Social Sciences;

c. Business and Communication; and

d. Science (including some subjects in Chinese Medicine).

The requirements of the Distribution subjects are as follows:

3.2.1 First Sequence 3Units
Any two subjects outside the student's own category of knowledge, of which one must be Science subject
3.2.2 Second Sequence
6Units

Any two subjects outside the student's own major/ option

(It is proposed that the second sequence (6 units) and free electives (9 units) under CS Distribution be used to create a Minor. If individual students can manage to accumulate 15 units from the relevant subjects, they might be permitted to declare their Minors subject to the approval of the departments concerned.)

3.2.2 CS Free Elective Subjects
9Units

The list of the Distribution subjects can be found at the website of the A. R.
