My wonderful exchange experience in Baylor University
“Take off and go abroad”.
This is the big slogan that is posted right in front of my
school. Studying abroad is really a good opportunity for
students to have their minds broadened, to be trained as a
global citizen, and to gain maturity.

Joining
the exchange program to Baylor University, Texas was the
most wonderful experience I’ve had in these three years in
university. Studying abroad has always been my dream, and
I had been planning to go on an exchange program since I
started my studies in HKBU. Studying abroad provides a
good chance for people to get away from their comfort
zone, meet new people, experience new cultures, and learn
new things.
Even though, I did get homesick
sometimes, everything I experienced made the transition
worthwhile. First, I met a lot new friends from all
around the world, such as Brazil, India, South Africa,
Japan, Italy, Korea, and Vietnam. t was so stimulating to
hang out with different people who grew up
in |
|
different cultures. I had lots of
Brazilian friends who were really friendly, and every time
I saw them on campus, they would give me a big bear hug to
show their affection.

My academic life there was quite different
from Hong Kong. Before I went to Baylor, I thought the
students in US would be quite laid back. However, the
students in Baylor are extremely hardworking. In the first
week of school, there were already students studying in
the library. Compared to Hong Kong, the workload in US was
much heavier. The atmosphere in class is also quite
different from Hong Kong. The students there were very
active and helpful in class, and they always asked and answered questions.

During these four months, I had time to
travel around USA, going to places such as Los Angeles, Las
Vegas, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and all around Texas.
I also joined a couple camps in school, and also went to my
roommate’s home for a holiday. It was a fun experience.
THIS IS my BAYLOR LIFE! |

Freshman
